Significant Achievements in the Past Two Years (Max 200 words.) |
We continue to develop and elevate our year-round curriculum by engaging our students and teaching professional and personal skills to assist with the development of youth leadership, activism and advocacy. We continue to develop collaborative partnerships and are excited to announce Bank of America as a new partner that recognized our successful impact in the area of youth development. Jim Moran Institute of Social Entrepreneurship also committed to assist with our mission and will assist with our efforts to provide linkage for future internships and job placement as it relates to the nonprofit career pathway. As our first group of students are now graduating college and entering the job force, we were also delighted to secure a grant from the VoLo Foundation that will support alumni engagement and program expansion. In the last two years, Philanthropy Tank has launched an additional 14 student social impact programs. |
Provide Description of How Money Would be Spent (Max 200 words.) |
This program supports an intentional, pro-social approach that engages youth with their communities. Here’s how: We have witnessed first-hand the positive impact of engaging youth in critical thinking and problem solving to address issues that face their communities. At-risk teens who have felt helpless, have been transformed by leading efforts to provide services to those individuals in need. We wish to establish a beta site in Palm Beach County where we would have a dedicated staff member to work directly with students. By working with Title One Schools, we would integrate our curriculum as part of the school community service requirement. We would utilize Virtually, an online learning management system that affords interactive lessons, speaker archives from local philanthropists and nonprofit professionals, and resource libraries for assistance in program and personal development. Requested funding will support staffing, technology, and supporting curriculum materials. This innovative new program will allow us to greatly expand our successful organization to serve more students, reach students who would not otherwise have access or be exposed to social impact opportunities and establish an organized program that can be housed throughout the School District of Palm Beach County. |
