Significant Achievements in the Past Two Years (Max 200 words.) |
In spring 2021, HomeSafe opened the Sylvester Family Foundation West Campus on Lyons Road, near Wellington. This new residential therapeutic group care campus is part of a comprehensive $15 million campaign to upgrade the agency's residential programs across all of our campuses in Palm Beach County and provide state-of-the-art facilities for a vulnerable population of children who are experiencing increasing levels of trauma from child abuse. Each child in this home has their own bedroom and private bathroom. This upgraded living space allows our young residents to have greater privacy and security to focus on healing from the trauma of abuse and neglect.
We also achieved a major milestone in raising the salaries of our residential program direct care staff, who fill some of the most demanding roles at HomeSafe. Our 2020-2024 strategic plan calls for increasing the starting pay for our Youth Development Professionals to $15/hour by 2024. Thanks to a $200,000 from the Jim Moran Foundation, we were able to implement this change effective July 1. We continue to evaluate our salary structure and adjust it as needed so that HomeSafe can offer competitive wages and attract and retain qualified staff at all levels of the organization.

Provide Description of How Money Would be Spent (Max 200 words.) |
If HomeSafe is chosen to participate in the main event, we would apply our grant award to our $15 million comprehensive campaign. The funds would be allocated to one of two projects: a new residential campus being constructed at 47th Place in West Palm Beach, or the renovation of our Bernstein Family Campus in Boca Raton. Each campus will feature a grand cottage that will house up to 12 youth ages 8-17 who are in need of intensive, individualized behavioral health services to treat the trauma of abuse, neglect and abandonment. The children will have their own private bedrooms and bathrooms, and they will also have access to programmatic space and other amenities similar to our new Sylvester Family West Campus. Once these two projects are completed in 2022, the 100 children and teens we serve each year across all of our Palm Beach County campuses will benefit from facilities that promote socialization, enhance therapeutic interventions, and provide one-on-one education and enrichment. HomeSafe will become a place they can truly call home during their time in our program and give them the support they need to heal from the hurt and realize their full potential in life. |
