Significant Achievements in the Past Two Years (Max 200 words.) |
211 has celebrated many achievements and expanded our services by taking on several new projects that enhance our impact within our community. These projects include expanding 211's Crisis Chat capabilities after becoming a National Backup Center for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (Lifeline), a statewide First Responders Hotline, and a violence prevention program with law enforcement to prevent mass shootings and save lives. The July 2022 launch of the nationwide 3-digit dialing code (988) for suicide prevention through the Lifeline significantly increased our call volume. Our agency is the only regionally contracted crisis center with the Lifeline, and as such all calls made to the Lifeline are routed to our 24-hour Resource Center. Our agency also implemented a state-of-the-art phone system to support this increased volume and preserve our continuity of operations. In light of this expansion, our agency has had to significantly scale up our staffing and operational capacity to ensure that no member of our community is left waiting to receive the resources and support that saves lives. Additionally, 211 has taken steps towards launching a capital campaign to construct a new facility to house the future of our operations and ensure our long-term sustainability. |

For 51 years, the 211 HelpLine has been dedicated to saving lives in the communities that we serve as the only 24/7 community helpline and crisis hotline. Our highly trained Resource Center Specialists are always here to provide those who request help from our agency with appropriate resources and emotional support, including crisis intervention and suicide prevention services. During times of disaster, 211 is a central hub of disaster-specific information to keep those who we serve safe and informed. In addition to our core program, the 211 HelpLine, our agency operates six other in-house programs that provide advocacy and care coordination to the most at-risk populations within our service region, including veterans, caregivers, children, and the elderly.
211 continuously seeks to diversify our funding sources to allow our vital programs to provide high-quality services to those in need on a completely free basis. It currently costs approximately $10,000 to operate our 211 HelpLine Resource Center for 24 hours. We are able to respond to between 200-300 requests for help from individuals in crisis, including 10 calls related to suicide, on a daily basis. 211 is a beacon of hope for those in our community who are facing life’s greatest challenges. |
